It’s incredible to see hypnotherapy, once seen as fringe, now being explored by the NHS as a powerful tool for healing.
The recent Hypnopal trial which started in 2023, led by nurse researcher Ana-Maria Toth at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, tested how hypnosis could help people recover after surgery. Patients received three hypnosis sessions alongside their usual care, and many reported lower pain levels, faster recovery, and less need for medication. One patient even described it as being "in a safe daydream,” fully present but deeply calm (bbc.co.uk).
This is such a powerful validation of something I have always known: hypnosis can be a safe, gentle, and effective way to support deep healing, not just symptom management.
